B4a  ·  Overview

How the file is put together

We start from the decisions, not the chart types. Which questions come up in every management meeting? Those become the top row. Everything else moves down or gets cut.

Underneath, the file is built properly: a separate data layer, Power Query for the refresh, PivotTables and measures for the maths, and a presentation tab that never holds raw data.

B4.1

Data layer

Raw imports land on their own hidden sheets and are never edited by hand.

B4.2

Model layer

Power Query and PivotTables do the shaping and the maths, so logic sits in one place.

B4.3

View layer

Slicers, timelines and charts on a single screen sized for a normal laptop.

B4.4

Refresh

One button, or a scheduled refresh where your setup supports it.

Common dashboard problems we repair

  1. 1It takes 40 seconds to openUsually volatile formulas and full-column references. Both removable.
  2. 2Charts break when data growsFixed ranges instead of tables. A structural fix, not a patch.
  3. 3Nobody agrees what a number meansWe label definitions on the sheet so the debate ends.
  4. 4It looks nothing like your brandColour, type and layout set to match your reporting standards.

B4d  ·  Questions

If the audience lives in Excel and the data fits comfortably, Excel wins on adoption. If you need row-level security, scheduled distribution or millions of rows, Power BI is the better home. We build both and will say which fits.

Yes, where the source allows it — SharePoint, SQL, an API or a shared folder. Files on a personal desktop need a manual click.

Often. Keeping your layout and fixing the engine underneath is usually cheaper than starting again.
